Chronograph 1 – Ice Race 2023 Edition

To mark the opening of the famed Grossglockner High Alpine Road in Austria and the ‘Mankei’ – GP’s new destination, featuring a restaurant, cafe, accommodations and a meeting place for all motor sport fans from anywhere in the world – Porsche Design has developed a special textile/leather ‘Mankei strap’ for the coveted Chronograph 1 – GP 2023 Edition in recognition of the place where petrolheads and members of the F.A.T. and GP community will soon be able to come together.

The GP Ice Race is back — and with it a unique collaboration. Together with the GP team lead by Constantin Klein and Ferdi Porsche — the nephew of the Porsche Design founder, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche — a timepiece based on the legendary Chronograph I was developed to match the event: the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 — GP 2023 Edition. As a Chronograph 1 Edition model, every design detail of the GP timepiece is based on its iconic predecessor: contrasting white second, minute and hour hands, fluorescent hour markers, sevenfold anti-glare, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with hard coating and powerfully luminous Superluminova on the matt black dial and hands ensure optimal readability.

The GP 2023 Edition comes with two strap variants. The modern, white GP badge already familiar from the GP 2022 Edition, ensures a high level of functionality, because the textile strap allows the watch to be put on quickly and be comfortably worn over ski or racing suits. As an alternative to the special GP badge, the strap can be exchanged for the classic black version made of fine vehicle leather with a matt black titanium folding clasp. High-precision operation is guaranteed by the chronograph calibre WERK 01.240 with flyback function and COSC certification, innovative quick-change date display and bilingual day display, developed in Porsche's own watch factory in Solothurn, Switzerland. On the case back of the watch, in addition to the edition number, there is the historic original Porsche Design logo and a special highlight: the laser engraving of the GP signet in the shape of a Yeti sitting on a tractor. The high-quality timepiece is perfectly presented in a black box with a laser-engraved acrylic plaque.Strictly limited to 250 pieces.
