Since 1972, the 'sports car on your wrist' has been an integral part of the history of Porsche Design. Together with Hodinkee, Porsche Design is now adding a new chapter to this legendary history. Introducing the Chronograph 1 – Hodinkee 2024 Edition. This timepiece retells the design philosophy of the first chronograph, combining the style of the 1970s with 2024 technology. The iconic Chronograph I is a timeless masterpiece. F. A. Porsche wanted to create a timepiece that was unmistakably derived from the vehicle and stood for unrestricted functionality. A precision instrument that revolutionised the watch industry and focused on both function and optimal readability – like the Porsche 911. The result was the first all-Black chronograph, instead of the usual Silver or Gold. It was highly controversial at the time, but is now firmly established. With intricately designed details that transform each piece into a tribute to the motorised model.

To retell the story of the Chronograph I, rediscovering its design philosophy and forms, cherished by connoisseurs on every continent. To match this, Porsche Design has developed the Chronograph 1 – Hodinkee 2024 Edition, which brings all of this to your wrist in 1970s style. Strictly in accordance with the specifications of F. A. Porsche, but technically up to date. Designed, developed and handcrafted in the Porsche watch factory in Solothurn, Switzerland. Limited to 350 pieces worldwide. Curated by Hodinkee.

As a tribute to Hodinkee and the US community, the bezel features a '1 MILE' graphic on the tachymeter scale.
The edition is presented to the large Porsche and Hodinkee fan community in Japan: with a bilingual, mechanical day display in English and Japanese.
Inspired by the original dial designed by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, Super-LumiNova® luminous material was chosen in a retro colour, giving the timepiece the patina of decades-old watches.
