Exclusive vehicle watch. Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar
Precision really can be so robust.
Only one thing counts in the Dakar Rally – arriving. To achieve this, engineers and drivers push themselves to their limits and conquer new terrain in every respect. Just like the specialists at Porsche's own watchmaking workshop in Solothurn, Switzerland. Over years of development work, they have created the world's first chronograph case made of titanium carbide: for the new Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar and 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition. The revolutionary
material is even lighter than titanium and has a level of resilience that would make many Dakar Rally starters envious. The two high-quality sports cars for your wrist reference their eponymous role models in numerous details and can be customised to match the vehicle. The edition, limited to a total of 2,500 units, is reserved exclusively for owners of the Porsche 911 Dakar and the Porsche 911 Dakar Rallye Design. Each unit bears the same limited edition number as the vehicle it is paired with. These chronographs are guaranteed to accompany you on all paths you traverse – and beyond.

The spirit of dakar on your wrist.
The vehicle lettering "911 Dakar" on the dial makes it unmistakably clear which vehicle the two chronographs were based on. The four-colour Roughroads graphic in the small seconds of the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition pays tribute to the legendary four-wheel drive Porsche, which also helped the drivers from Zuffenhausen achieve fame off the tarmac in 1984. And just as the 953 ushered in a new era, these chronographs want to do the same: with innovative, robust materials and a Swiss movement with pinpoint precision from Porsche Design.
A world first – the titanium carbide case.
The five-year development period of the new case is similar to that of a new sports car. The result: revolutionary. Thanks to the extreme resistance of the material, even fine sand scratches fall by the wayside. The Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar will defy the toughest conditions on all of your on- and off-road adventures. Additionally, titanium carbide prevents the visible ageing process and is even lighter than titanium — the extremely low weight ensures that the high wearing comfort lasts until the last stage. The striking Black powder look also gives the chronograph an elegant finish, while the abbreviation TiC for titanium carbide on the dial evokes memories of the famous Porsche Design "Military" watches made of stainless steel with the abbreviation 3H for the tritium luminous material of the time.
Discreetly keeping the most important things in view.
The Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar is easy to read, even when the sun is burning above in a cloudless sky like a gargantuan ball of fire, the roof of the Porsche 911 Dakar the sole refuge. The Red 60 on the minute scale on the rehaut as the centre top marking helps with orientation and catches the eye just as quickly as the red stop hands. The lines of the small hour markings are thicker than the half-hour markings. The lettering for the Porsche Design Calibre WERK 01.240 with flyback function is also in Red on this Black dial.
Detailed homage – the rotor in wheel design.
Anything but a mirage: the winding rotor on the back actually matches the 911 Dakar rim down to the smallest detail. In line with the configuration of your vehicle, the colours Black (satin) and Solid White are available for the complete rim for design both chronographs. The winding rotor for the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar is also available in Vesuvius Grey. If you choose Black (satin) or Vesuvius Grey, the rim ring comes in Brilliant Silver. The modern Porsche Crest adorns the end cap in the selected rim colour.
Interchangeable. Not replaceable.
The Porsche 911 Dakar in the middle of a unique Sahara landscape: there are sights that make you forget the hardships of the Dakar Rally for a moment. For instance, the sight of the high-quality watch straps with quick-change system of the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar and 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition.
The watch strap alludes to the seat centre of the 911 Dakar – with Black leather including contrasting stitching in Shade Green and perforation with backing made of Race-Tex in Shade Green. The inspiration of the leather strap for the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition is also clearly taken from the seat centre with Black leather and contrasting stitching in Shark Blue., as well as perforation with backing made of Race-Tex in Shark Blue.
Long life manifested.
The tracks of the Porsche 911 Dakar in the deep desert sand will be gone after just a few hours, but the '911 Dakar' engraved model lettering on this elegant plaque will stay with you forever. Just like the 'Roughroads Porsche' graphic when buying a Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition. The shared limited-edition number of your Porsche 911 Dakar and your chronograph on the plaque further illustrates the close connection between these two fascinating collector's items. You will receive the plaque together with your individualised chronograph in an exclusive product environment.
Porsche Design, Swiss Made.
Himself a designer, our founder, Prof. F. A. Porsche, once said: "If we wanted something, we had to make it ourselves." And that is exactly how this very special timepiece was created – in a very special place, by hand and with great attention to detail in Porsche's very own watch manufacturer in Solothurn, Switzerland, which was founded in 2014. The expertise of sports cars and watch experts unite here to create a perfect symbiosis between the two fields, all while combining the highest aesthetic standards with unbeatable performance and precision craftsmanship. The result: watches that propel the thrill of Porsche far beyond the road.
Porsche Design movement with excellent precision.
Framed by a glass bead-blasted titanium back in the same colour as the case, the Porsche Design WERK 01.200 is COSC certified — a distinction only awarded to watches of the highest accuracy. But, of course, the highest demands are the ones we place on ourselves. This means that without exception, each and every chronograph is checked once again for accuracy by the Porsche watch factory before delivery. A first-class standard of quality that is only natural for Porsche Design. The movement also has a flyback function that brings starting, stopping and resetting together into a single operation. The only disadvantage of a chronograph with such a high-precision movement — it shows you exactly when it's time to finish your drive in the 718 Spyder RS and head home.
