How cold does the Porsche Cool Bag get?
The Porsche Cool Bag cools its contents to a minimum of approximately 10 °C, and can achieve a temperature reduction of up to 25 °C below the ambient temperature outside the bag. On a 35 °C summer day the internal temperature will settle around 10 °C, while on a milder 20 °C day the bag will reach approximately 10 °C as well. It is designed to keep drinks and food cool, not to freeze them.
Is the Porsche Cool Bag an insulated bag, a thermoelectric cooler, or a proper fridge?
The Porsche Cool Bag is a thermoelectric (Peltier) cooler. It plugs into a 12V socket and actively cools its contents while connected, unlike a passive insulated bag with ice packs. It is not a compressor fridge, so it cannot reach true refrigerator or freezer temperatures. Thermoelectric coolers are prized for having no moving parts, no refrigerant, and silent operation, which makes them well suited to in-car use.
How many drinks and how much food can I fit inside?
The 14 litre internal capacity typically holds around twenty 330 ml drinks cans, or eight to ten standard 500 ml water bottles stood upright, or a picnic for four including sandwiches, cheese, salads, and drinks. The internal dimensions accommodate standard wine bottles vertically.
Which Porsche models is the Cool Bag compatible with?
The Porsche Cool Bag works with every Porsche model equipped with a 12V accessory socket, which covers all current and recent Porsche vehicles including the 911, 718, Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, and Taycan. The bag is sized specifically to fit on the rear seat bench and secure to the rear seat belt.
Can I use the Cool Bag in the boot of my Porsche?
Yes, provided your Porsche has a 12V socket in the boot area, which most Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, and Taycan models do. The 2.8 metre cable also allows the bag to reach the front accessory socket from most boot positions if the vehicle layout permits, although the bag will not be as securely restrained without a seat belt. For maximum stability, secure the bag on the rear seat bench with the seat belt.
Does the Porsche Cool Bag work when the ignition is off?
This depends on your Porsche. Some models switch off the 12V accessory socket when the ignition is turned off, in which case the bag will stop cooling as soon as you leave the car. Other models keep the accessory socket permanently live, in which case the bag will continue to draw power and slowly discharge the vehicle battery if left connected for extended periods. Disconnect the bag from the socket when the car is parked overnight or for longer than a few hours to avoid battery drain.
Can I plug the Cool Bag into a household socket at home to pre-cool it?
Not directly. The Cool Bag connects only to a 12V DC supply, so household 230V mains sockets cannot be used without a suitable 12V power adapter, which is not supplied. For best results, pre-cool the contents in a household fridge before loading them into the bag, or use a 12V power supply designed for camping and portable cooler use.
Can the Porsche Cool Bag also warm food, like some other portable coolers?
No. The Porsche Cool Bag is a dedicated cooling product and does not include a warming or heating mode. Use it exclusively to keep cold drinks and food at a low temperature during transport.
